i miss england in a terrible way.

"the next station is leicester square. change here for the northern line...this is covent garden. alight here for the london transport museum... the next station is holborn. change here for the central line. this is a picadilly line service to cockfosters..."

Spitalfields. Fuller's. football in Hyde Park. the National Theatre. digestives. two pound coins. the walk to Borough Market. the River Thames. "look right; look left." Sainsbury's. the tube. Fortnum&Mason. 49 Doughty Street. Cornish pasties. afternoon cuppas. St. Michael's Way. train rides. the Savoy. extra-long paper. the Royal Cresent. jacket potatoes. the Courtauld. poppy appeal. Picadilly. "sorry." long[er than imaginable] walks. rain. free museum entry. clotted cream.

ahhhhh.

a new read

"in a place called denmark, where eagles tumbled and wild turkeys mined boulders in open fields and vikings have been reduced to serving espresso, i stopped fighting the elements whose weight i bore and began to accept the moment for what it was rather than what it could be. the seemingly ceaseless headwinds and the constant rain became nothing more than the words that describe them now, in essence, i gave in to them, allowing them to blow and beat down in their natural way. and as they did, their weight was shed and once again i was free to ride alone."

Day 4 from my new favorite blog - blog-en - using words and pictures to document a cross-country bicycle journey.

I don't like the term 'illegal'; I prefer the term 'unauthorized'

"translating the corporate monologue into a public dialogue."

i love it!

in honor of my refrigerator

I think these* might be my favorite produce shots of all time. I thought I would share them - as my fridge is currently consumed by produce. I'm actually a bit overwhelmed by it [and I think my fridge is too]. Produce is tasty and I would live completely off of fruits and vegetables... if not for that weird garbly** feeling in the stomach...

*These photos are taken from high up in the trees. a pretty spunky blog.

**I don't know that 'garbly' is an actual word - but I find it describes the feeling well. in an onomatopoeia sort of way.

All My Pretty Ones

My new favorite - Handsbreadth by All My Pretty Ones. It's a short album, but full of lovely folky music. The use of piano -and a great variety of other instruments (oboe!)- makes me happy. Plus, I love this album cover.

You can listen to some of their songs on myspace, of course. And, be sure to check out their comment board to see some awesome california-based concert flyers.
